The Sun, The Cloud & Lady Liberty
Today Liberty Island and the Statue of Liberty are currently closed because of the government shutdown. Such a tragic irony.
We had some friends in town for the week and decided to all head down and see the statue of liberty. Most of us had seen it when we were kids, but it was a new experience to see it as adults. It was also amazing to see the extent of restorations that were done to the interior structure over the years.

The Statue Of Liberty is such a strong symbol and means so much to so many, but as of late, seems to be less and less meaningful. It is sad to witness the apparent decline in the the state of the USA and the previously well earned pride that appears to be leaving our nation like water from a drying up lake - ever faster and more desperately. Most of this seems thanks to a powerful minority of greedy and corrupt business and government leaders.
